About O-Cel-O Scrub Sponges
O-Cel-O scrub sponges are modern cleaning products that are designed with both form and function in mind. These sponges are designed to be used for multiple household cleaning tasks and they are quite attractively designed. They are also an environmentally cleaning choice, as biodegradable cellulose is used to manufacture the sponges. Several different varieties of O-Cel-O sponges are available. While I tested standard scrub sponges for this independent product review, additional options include heavy duty, multipurpose and light duty versions.
Function
O-Cel-O sponges are soft on one side and abrasive on the other, making them a perfect tool for just about any type of chore you might face. The non-abrasive side is perfect for stainless steel countertops and appliances and glassware, while the abrasive side is perfect for washing dishes - even when you need to clean a pan that's coated with baked on residue from your meal or if you need to scrub the grate on your outdoor grill.
While trying the products for this review, I used the nonabrasive side to clean everything from the surfaces of my cabinets to bone china and crystal. The sponge did a great job of cleaning each item without streaking or causing any damage. I also used the abrasive side to scrub a large stainless stock pot that had been used to sear beef and a cast iron skillet that was used to bake cornbread. The results were just as positive with the heavy duty cleaning tasks as the lightweight ones.
Form
Not only can O-Cel-O sponges tackle some of the most difficult cleaning challenges you are likely to face, they're also quite attractive. They feature brightly colored geometric designs that can lend a colorful splash to any décor. I particularly like the fact that the designs are quite different. This makes it easy to designate sponges for certain tasks.
I received four different designs to review: Spring Splash, Plaid Lagoon, Mod Twister and Bold Expression. I chose two of the designs for exclusive use in the kitchen. I set aside one pattern for washing dishes and another for countertops and appliances. I also chose two patterns for the bathroom, reserving one for the bathtub and one for the sinks, counters and cabinets. This makes it easy for me to avoid cross contamination problems and makes purchasing replacement products easier.
